The Swallowfield Duathlon
The Race
The Duathlon competitor's race pack is now available with full information about the course, transition, rules and everything else you would want to know. It's available here
The Swallowfield Duathlon consists of 3 legs: a 6.7km run, 18.5km cycle on road and finishing up with a 3.7km run. It will start from the same location as the 10km race.
Run 6.7K
The first run is an undulating circular route up around Farley Hill and then returning back to Swallowfield for transition to cycling. 
Bike 18.5K
This will take you on a loop through rural West Berkshire through Beech Hill, Stratfield Saye, Stanford End and then Riseley before returning to Swallowfield.  download cycle route gpx file
Run 3.7K
The final stretch loops around Swallowfield to finish at the Parish Hall. 
Race Rules
This will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Federation (BTF). As always, your bike must be in a road worthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn. A BTF referee will be present throughout the day. A summary of the race rules can be found at BTF Rule Guide in Brief . Full BTF rules can be found on www.britishtriathlon.org.
Please note that that personal stereos and mobile phones are banned equipment on the Duathlon and must not be used.
Venue
The Swallowfield Duathlon starts in rural Berkshire and tours all the villages that comprise the Swallowfield parish.
Team Relay
Team relay is all about sharing the Duathlon experience; one competitor takes on the running legs and the other the cycling leg. When applying, please provide details for both entrants and indicate on the form that you wish to enter the team relay category. The entrance fee is as for a single Duathlon entry. Please note that the cycling team member should have the runner's number on their back and the running entrant on the front.
Important - only the entrant running the final leg should cross the finish line. However, both competitors should go to collect their medals.
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded for 1st in category.
Final Race Information
Full race details will be available on the website nearer the day. Race packs will be sent out one week before the event. The Duathlon briefing pack will be made available on the website shortly and will be talked through on the day. Please ensure you are familiar with the course and what is required to keep yourself and other safe during the event - it is part of the terms and conditions of entry to the event. |
